Cattle Market Down Triple Digits

Fat cattle futures are trading $2.20 to $2.75 lower at midday. Feeder cattle are following triple digits lower as well with losses of at least $2.32. The October 15 Feeder Cattle Index from CME dropped back 69 cents to $140.22. Clean up business in the cash market was very thin on Friday, from $106-$107. For the week, sales were mostly near $108 with the wtd ave price at $107.61. Wholesale boxed beef prices were lower again this AM. Choice boxes were $0.17 lower at $209.86 cwt. and Select boxes dropped $1.05 to $192.47. USDA estimates FI cattle slaughter for the week through Saturday at 654k head. That is up 17,000 wk/wk and 11k above last year.

Dec 20 Cattle are at $106.175, down $2.450,

Feb 21 Cattle are at $108.825, down $2.650,

Oct 20 Feeder Cattle are at $135.775, down $2.325

Nov 20 Feeder Cattle are at $131.525, down $3.500

Jan 21 Feeder Cattle are at $126.700, down $2.625
